Bonnie Halfpenny
Phoenix, AZ
"Soft pottery" is an art form Bonnie Halfpenny has been
developing for the past three years. Creating pots and bowls
in many shapes and styles, it's her statement about caring for
craft forms from the past, while striving to interpret quilting
arts in new ways. Most of her "pottery" is created with a
combination of piecing, coiling, embellishment, and collage.
Exhibiting in various galleries and shows around Arizona
since 1988, Halfpenny coordinated the 2000 Centennial Quilt
for the Phoenix Public Library, and designed an individual quilt
block for the Ironwood branch.
Halfpenny has a B.A. in Art Education (textiles) from
Arizona State University and is a member of the Mavericks contemporary
art quilt group and a member of Studio Art Quilt Associates.
